Education: Possess a bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy from a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).

Experience Requirement: Possess a minimum of one year of experience.

Licensure: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted license to practice Pharmacy in the state of Louisiana.

Duties include:
  • Interpreting medical/dental staff prescription orders. These orders may be the traditional physical prescription or orders taken from entries of the patients’ medical files.
  • Entering prescriptions into the pharmacy’s prescription computer system and printing prescription labels.
  • Selecting the correct medication and filling the prescriptions, either manually or by utilizing available pharmacy automation systems.
  • Inventorying medications and supplies, recording items that are low in stocking levels, and advising the CFAD Chief Pharmacist and/or CFAD Staff Pharmacist of medications that need ordering.
  • Utilizing available unit-dose repackaging automation to repackage bulk medications into appropriately labeled unit-dose packages for use by other BOP sites.
  • Assist with packaging prescriptions filled for remote pharmacy service into boxes suitably packaged and labeled for overnight courier shipment.
  • Assist with processing return to stock shipments of unused prescriptions from remote pharmacy sites, and re-stocking medications as appropriate.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations during the performance of the above duties.
